The Tinker is a compact bike that is great for the city and for travel. The smaller 20” wheels and short wheelbase make it easy to maneuver at slow speed. This works well for city riding, where we often encounter crowded sections of trail, sidewalk, or plaza to ride though.
The magic with this bike is that it still manages to “ride big” at higher speeds. The compromise with most small-wheel, short-wheelbase bikes is that the steering gets twitchy once you get over 15mph or so. But the Tinker just glides along at 20mph, even with the rack loaded with a couple of bags. So, this is also a great day-touring bike. Thrown an extra PowerPack battery in a pannier, and you've got a long distance touring bike.
The adjustable stem on this bike makes it easy for most riders to get comfortable quickly, which makes this a bike that is perfect to share with friends or family members.
This bike only has one drivetrain option, the Enviolo hub with Gates belt. And it’s a great match! Chain + derailleur drivetrains on 20” wheel bikes live a hard life because the derailleur sits so close to the ground and picks up tons of dirt. The Enviolo/Gates combo means less maintenance, easier cleaning, and fewer performance issues.
