Home / Bikes / Riese & Müller / Packster 70
This is a sophisticated box bike designed to safely and comfortably transport children. A unique cable steering system gives this bike an excellent turning radius, making it easier to park and ride at slow speed.

The details here are impressive. The cargo area is deep and well protected by its thick EPP sidewalls. Reclining seats, headrests, and a rain / sun cover make it easy for kids to get comfy. There's a glovebox with an optional lock that's the perfect place for a phone and keys. One or two batteries are concealed in the frame and easily removable with a key. A relatively low frame step-over height of 23" and an adjustable stem make this a bike comfortable for riders from 5'3" to 6'3".

With the 1500Wh DualBattery package, this bike gets 60 or more miles per charge. That's days of riding around the neighborhood without having to fuss with charging! And for those days when you ride across town multiple times, you'll have all the range you need.

The Packster has a couple of options that are important to understand ---

The basic brakes on this bike are great if you live in Flatsville, but they are not recommended for heavy loads + steep descents. If you're going to push the bike into that territory, get the Performance Package upgrade. This upgrades the brakes to the wonderful TRP C 2.3 cargo brake, which has a wider rotor that can absorb more heat and wears longer than a standard width rotor. Two more upgrades are included with the Performance Package: the headlight is a Supernova M99 Mini Pro w/ high beam switch and the tail light is a Supernova M99 with brake lights.

Two frame styles are available. The standard option is a hard-tail, meaning that there is no shock for the rear wheel. The Control Technology Package adds a rear shock and everything you get with the Performance Package. Which frame style is for you? It's very hard to know without test riding, which is why we have both available for demo. Generally, people that ride at a more relaxed pace and ride mostly paved roads don't find as much need for the rear shock. And the bike seems to climb hills better without one. People that ride faster hit bumps with more force, and the Control Technology Package really helps to keep traction in these situations.

While this bike can be configured with Bosch's ABS 2.0, we do not recommend it on this bike unless you plan on riding aggressively. We much prefer the TRP C 2.3 brake to the Magura brake that works with ABS.
